There is no reference in the Bible to what Jesus did between the ages of 12 when he was discussing religious matters with the elders and 30 or so when he appeared as a prophet, this is a recognized fact. All we know is that when Jesus came to preach in his home town Nazareth that while the people were not exactly welcoming they were amazed by the change, surely that is just Joseph the Carpenter’s son but how come he has all this knowledge? Jesus wryly remarked that “The only place a prophet isn’t honored is in his hometown and in his own house“.

So what happened in between we shall probably never know but there are wild theories ranging from going to India, to England (William Blake : And did those feet in ancient time, Walk upon England’s mountains green: And was the holy Lamb of God, On England’s pleasant pastures seen), to even North America!

It seemed to be something to with some PHP programming I’m doing and (inexplicably) preparing something for Barack Obama and family even I though I kept thinking surely an American President has people who this kind of stuff for him already.

Until last week of all the millions who marched off to war there were two remaining veterans of WW1. Now they’ve both gone. Henry had witnessed the Battle of Jutland! When you think how many of their comrades died so young that they had never even had a sweetheart. So much suffering, so many parents, wives, fatherless children whose lives were also broken

For historians WW1 now joins Waterloo and Gettysburg as battles and wars with no living witnesses all they can do is hope to discover lost memoirs and papers if they want to write anything new.

One of the annoying things about learning a foreign language is when you know the meaning cannot think of what the English word would be! Occasionally there is no direct translation.

The closest English translation for Astuce seems to be ‘crafty’. I heard it in France when somebody would say that they had managed to solve a problem with an ‘astuce’ i.e. they had found an elegant solution. We do use astute, so let’s steal another French word and start using Astuce!

When you about to undertake an usual amount of physical effort ie a trek a charity walk of cycle race where endurance is important it is vital to get your preparation right. This is assuming that you normally are as so many of us are a sedentary worker (sitting down).

On the day of the event you must abandon your cautious attitude to calories, you need to eat a lot, you need to eat regularly, you need to eat BEFORE you get hungry, you need to eat healthily with a balance of slow and fast burning foods. For fast burners eat bananas and quality energy bars.

Similarly you need to drink regularly, the best way is from a platypus style flat pack water bottle which you carry in your backpack with a long tube to drink from.

If you hydrate too little you will suffer energy loss and worse and find it difficult to recover even if plenty of drink is subsequently available.

Céleste Albaret was born with the name ‘Gineste Augustine Célestine’ the 17 May 1891 at Auxillac (Lozère (département)|Lozère) and deceased the 25 April 1984 at Montfort-l’Amaury, was the devoted servant of Marcel Proust.

On the 28th March 1913, Céleste Gineste married Odilon Albaret, taxi driver of whomMarcel Proust was a regular client.
In 1914, at the instigation of her husband who had told Proust that his wife was bored with nothing to do, she became a very young servant of the writer.
Accompanying Proust even during his irregular hours, putting up with his strange way of dressing, eating , his unusual behavior, his physical exhaustion, she nevertheless remained with him until his death in 1922.
After the First World War, Proust lived more and more exclusively. In her own way, Céleste took down his dictations, collected and verified facts, took care of his contacts with the outside world , even became a character in one of his books, until he had completed his chef d’oeuvre.
After the death of Proust Celeste and her husband opened a hotel in the 6th arrondissement of Paris in Rue des Canettes.
Totally forgotten Celeste outlived nearly all of the famous people who had known Proust. She was rediscovered in the 1970′s notably by the famous book lover and collector Jacques Guérin. With his encouragement she recalled her memories which published in the book ”Monsieur Proust”, Robert Laffont, 1973 {{ISBN|2221013301}}
She also sold Jacques several books given to her by Proust himself. These are considered to be the most sought after treasures by French booklovers.
In recognition of her contribution to literature and it’s preservation Céleste Albaret was made
En raison de sa contribution à l’histoire de la littérature et à sa préservation, Céleste Albaret “commandeur de l’ordre des Arts et Lettres”, just before her death.
Due to her devotion and respect of Marcel Proust’s needs and behaviour Céleste Albaret is considered to be one of the finest examples of a helper for a literary figures.
Céleste Albaret is also the heroine of an imaginary diary, ”Moi Céleste Albaret, gouvernante de Marcel Proust”, written  by Lina Lachgar

Dubliners is a book of short stories by James Joyce the last of which is  called “The Dead”. What James Joyce does uncannily well is give you the impression that you are there when he recreates  the night of the Morkan sisters’ annual dance and dinner in the first week of January, 1904.  You time travel to that world of a hundred years ago. You will feel you know personally all the main characters, Gabriel, his wife Gretta, Lily the maid, Freddy Malins, and the off stage Michael Furey. Read this book or see the John Huston film and this story will never leave you
